About the Conference 

1Life’s yearly conference exists to help make the spiritual character of the church’s 5 callings clear, attainable and lively. This year’s conference explores the calling of Servant Leadership.

What Can Participants Expect?

  • retreat-style setting that values rest, prayer, encouragement and fellowship
  • eye-opening teaching on stewardship that goes beyond money and volunteerism
  • hands-on practice of outlining the beginnings of a strategic plan for your church


Presenters

Maynard Wiersma: Maynard is the executive director of Christian Stewardship Services.  He has a self-described ‘fire in his belly’ for wider & deeper understandings of stewardship in the local church. In over 20 different churches and settings, he has helped build leaders who serve as cheerleaders for the whole mission of the church. Maynard practices what he preaches at Maranatha CRC in Cambridge Ontario.

Wilma van der Leek: Wilma is the commissioned pastor of education for Classis BC NW & SE. 20 years in, she is still amazed at how communal reflection on the texts of scripture endlessly strengthens the soul and skill of all Christian leaders. Wilma serves as the curator of the Servant Leadership calling in the 1Life learning hub and is a member of Fleetwood CRC.

 

Registration: On-line registration opens March 1st. This conference is designed for churches to send a team (2-5) who will work collegially together throughout the day. Please register as a group. 

Cost: $35/person, $30/person for a group of 3 or more

  • 9:00AM – 10:00AM: Called to Lead: Morning Prayer & Worship
  • 10:00AM – 10:30AM: Break
  • 10:30AM – 11:30AM: Stewardship, Leadership & the Generosity of God: Keynote Address (Maynard Wiersma)
  • 11:30AM – 12:15PM: Responding to Keynote
  • 12:15PM – 1:00PM: Lunch Table Fellowship
  • 1:00PM – 3:00PM: Achieve/Preserve/Avoid: stewardship workshop
  • 3:00PM – 3:30PM: Break
  • 3:30PM – 4:30PM: Fanned into Flame: Closing Commitments, Support, Blessings,  & Prayers
  • 4:30PM: Homeward Bound
