Dementia: Living in the Memories of God by John Swinton

John Swinton specializes in practical theology and has many years experience as a caregiver. This is a challenging read, but it gives the most robust theological response to dementia while remaining pastoral in tone.

Finding Grace in the Face of Dementia by John Dunlop

This book offers a compassionate and thoughtful approach to understanding and caring for those affected by dementia, encouraging readers to see the experience through a lens of faith and grace. Recommended as a resource for those seeking grace in the midst of dementia.

Brain Changes and Dementia by Teepa Snow

This 13 min video is very helpful in understanding some of the changes happening in the brain. Teepa Snow has a unique presentation style that may not be for everyone, but her material is amongst the best to be found. 

Still Waters Run Deep by John Swinton, Calvin College January Series 2018. In this lecture, Swinton proposes a theology of dementia that challenges prevailing societal perceptions and emphasizes the inherent value and personhood of individuals with dementia.

In collaboration with Teepa Snow, Holland Home, Grand Rapids, MI, put together a summary pamphlet about dementia. This excellent resource not only describes changes in the brain but also provides practical suggestions for care and visiting.
