Thompson\, Ph.D.\, Victoria White and a panel of guest speakers\, this on-line training will explore disability theology and the experiences of people with disabilities in the church.

Our goal is to foster a deep and deeply relevant Biblical imagination in the leaders of our BC CRCs. \nWondering if this might be for you\, especially in these unsettled times? \nLearn more about our 2022-23 LDN cohort (Old Testament) at one of our on-line summer information\nevenings: \n\nMonday June 27\nMonday July 18\nMonday August 22\n\n  \nFacilitator: Wilma van der Leek\, Curator\, Servant Leadership (MCS\, Regent College)

SUMMARY:Demystifying Justice for Deacons and Churches
DESCRIPTION:The biblical call to do justice is something that we as Christians strive to live out. However\, we can get easily overwhelmed when trying to address too much at once\, when programs are vague and unsustainable\, or when issues are so complex that it seems like our efforts are merely ‘a drop in the bucket’. \nIn this workshop Rachel and Cindy will unpack how the Bible talks about peace\, justice and mercy\, identify how exploitive structures cause injustice\, and explore how advocacy reconciliation can bring change and healing when injustice has been done. They will conclude with open discussion on the assets that are already in your local communities that you can build on to develop your own action plans\, embodying the call to be peacemakers and doers of justice. \nFacilitator: Rachel Vroege\, Regional Ministry Developer (Western Canada) for Diaconal Ministries Canada and Cindy Stover\, Justice Mobilizer for the Centre for Public Dialogue and Office of Social Justice

SUMMARY:The World Has Changed Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Let’s discover anew what it means to be God’s people discovering and participating in God’s mission today! \nWe all know the world has changed but understanding the impact that has had on the church and knowing how to respond are harder to figure out. In fact\, exploring that question is an adaptive challenge that reminds us to seek to discern what God is up to in the midst of this “great unravelling.” \nIn this online workshop\, participants will consider these changes\, their implications and how they are\, by the work of the Spirit\, leading the church to a renewed understanding of what it means to be God’s people joining the Spirit on God’s mission in their neighborhoods. \nDesired Outcomes\nParticipants will . . . \n\nBe able to identify five changes/adaptive challenges that help describe our ‘new’ world;\nReflect on where their church is at in terms of responding to these changes;\nBegin to identify the ancient-new way of being the church in their context;\nExplore in an introductory way\, the questions\, postures and practices that might help us to discover anew what it means to be God’s people discovering and participating in God’s mission in our neighborhoods.\n\nFacilitator: Karen Wilk \nHost: Jessica Boy – 1Life Curator for Global Mission
