SUMMARY:Together Seeking God's Face - Prayer for Synod
DESCRIPTION:In May 2021\, the Council of Delegates of the CRCNA\, recognizing that “we stand in a challenging moment that invites us to be discipled in postures and practices of prayerful discernment” invited people into a year of prayer to listen “to the Spirit and to one another”. \nOn Monday\, June 6\, join in a bi-classical worship and prayer time hosted by 1Life that invites us into prayer “to recapture the spirit of Jesus prayer in John 17 – that of loving God and each other so deeply that the world will know that Jesus is Lord” (quotes from Denomination Calls for Year of Prayer\, July 2021) \nSubscribe to receive the 40 days of intentional guided prayers before Synod 2022 here \nFacilitator: Liz Tolkamp\, Faith Formation Curator

SUMMARY:Demystifying Justice for Deacons and Churches
DESCRIPTION:The biblical call to do justice is something that we as Christians strive to live out. However\, we can get easily overwhelmed when trying to address too much at once\, when programs are vague and unsustainable\, or when issues are so complex that it seems like our efforts are merely ‘a drop in the bucket’. \nIn this workshop Rachel and Cindy will unpack how the Bible talks about peace\, justice and mercy\, identify how exploitive structures cause injustice\, and explore how advocacy reconciliation can bring change and healing when injustice has been done. They will conclude with open discussion on the assets that are already in your local communities that you can build on to develop your own action plans\, embodying the call to be peacemakers and doers of justice. \nFacilitator: Rachel Vroege\, Regional Ministry Developer (Western Canada) for Diaconal Ministries Canada and Cindy Stover\, Justice Mobilizer for the Centre for Public Dialogue and Office of Social Justice

SUMMARY:Church Accessibility Audit Training
DESCRIPTION:We all want our church to be a place where everybody belongs and everybody serves. Unfortunately\, people with disabilities experience barriers in the community and in our churches. In this workshop\, we will discuss what accessibility is and why it matters in the local church community. We will discuss how to introduce and execute an accessibility audit of your church. There will be a follow-up de-brief Monday August 29\, at 7:30 pm to share success stories and brainstorm ways to reduce lingering barriers. \nFacilitator: Caroline Short Regional Advocate for Disability Concerns BCNW \nHost: 1Life
